PIE Showcased Innovative Programs Benefitting Local Students

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (Oct. 27, 2015) Partnership for Innovation in Education (PIE) represented its innovative programs aimed at developing transformational educational tools preparing Cincinnati students for the 21st century workforce at two national conferences in Washington, D.C. – SmartBrief’s STEM Pathway Panel Series and the debut of ParentCamp USA, an inaugural conference hosted by the U.S. Department of Education.

PIE participated in “Equity in STEM: Taking the Challenge to Build an Inclusive Workforce,” the second annual STEM Pathway Panel Series presented by SmartBrief Education on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015. The conference brought together school superintendents, legislators, educators, research specialists, college and career readiness professionals, and talent acquisition professionals to discuss how the U.S. could build a more inclusive workforce and develop actionable best practices preparing today’s students for 21st century careers.

On Monday, Oct. 26, PIE joined leading educators, parents, students, and government representatives from across the U.S. at the first-ever ParentCamp USA Conference hosted by the U.S. Department of Education to discuss topics centered on new and innovative learning methods aimed at bringing together educators, students, parents, community and business leaders in ways to support “career readiness” in the K-12 classroom.

“It was an exciting opportunity to present PIE’s work with local students at the national level. In addition, it offered an excellent opportunity to learn how we can bring additional best practices and fresh ideas to our local classrooms,” said Mary Welsh Schlueter, CEO for PIE.

She added, “Our Cincinnati-based staff was especially thrilled to be asked by the ParentCamp executives to oversee and present new assessment models measuring mentor-based learning and ‘hands on’, parent-led experiences at next year’s event.”
