PIE Leads Educator Training at 13th Annual Women in Information Technology Conference (WiIT)

CINCINNATI – (Oct. 19, 2017) Cincinnati-based Partnership for Innovation in Education (PIE) will guide local STEM and Career & College Readiness educators through data visualization, case-based learning, design thinking and “hands on” digital learning experiences for high school students during the 13th annual Women in Information Technology (WiIT) Conference taking place on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Xavier University’s Cintas Center.

PIE, joined by educational partners from Xavier University and Teradata University Network, will offer local educators valuable training credits and provide guidance on implementing case-based learning, design thinking and how to embed data analytics into any subject area as well as how to jumpstart after school experiences that engage students in data visualization, advanced machine learning, app programming, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and coding.

Students and educators can sign up here for the 13th annual Women in Information Technology conference.

The all-day conference offers more than 600 female high school students from the Greater Cincinnati area an opportunity to solve “real life” Information Technology, Informatics, Data Analytics and Computer Science challenges with women working in the field using the latest technology and design thinking skillsets. Students will learn from regional entrepreneurs to create solutions for global business partners, engage in collaborative social media experiences with business mentors and compete for prizes.

“We are excited to be a part of this great event which not only allows high school students a chance to solve ‘real life’ technology challenges, but they also get to meet with local mentors and learn about the unique, diverse career opportunities available in technology-related fields,” said Mary Welsh Schlueter, CEO for PIE. “We are honored to work with local educators this year and give them the tools and guidance they need to build digital learning opportunities used in emerging careers.”

PIE is a sponsor of the WiIT conference with Procter & Gamble, General Electric, Fifth Third Bank, Cincinnati Bell Technology Solutions, AstraZeneca, Citi, Great American Insurance, Kroger, Microsoft, Paycor, and Western & Southern in collaboration with Miami University, University of Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky University and Xavier University.
